NIM is the national metrology institute of China and has significant leading expertise in a number of primary thermometry areas, in particular, high temperature acoustic gas thermometry, Johnson noise thermometry (electrical noise) and primary radiometry, particularly in the latter case of HTFPs. NIM has investigated high temperature microwave and acoustic waveguides for AGT. In addition NIM has performed fundamental research on the performance of the defining fixed points for ITS-90, measurements of the viscosities of argon, krypton and xenon by the two-capillary viscometer, the determinations of the Boltzmann constant by cylindrical acoustic gas thermometry and the Johnson noise thermometry.
