SMD is responsible for the realisation and maintenance of national standards and the unit dissemination through calibration activities and a dedicated research programme in metrology. SMD is represented in the IMEKO TC12 <em>Temperature and Thermal Measurements<\/em> and the ISO\/TC12 <em>Quantities and Units<\/em>.
